bought something from Eddie Bauer and an offer popped up saying "pick one of these rewards". This is the only thing that sounded remotely useful and offered a sample of their product for $1.17.

I followed the links looking for the catch and couldn't find one, and against my better judgement I ordered it. The bottle arrived and the pump didn't work. I didn't worry about it since it was a dollar. Now I have a charge for $85 on my credit card.

They are telling me the dollar was for a free trialโ€ฆbut the $85 was for the product they shipped and I should have read the terms and conditions!

They are giving me 25% back since the pump didn't work, but refuse to give any more back, so I've paid $63 for a bottle of mystery cream. Very angry.

I got the offer for a survey from AARP. I have complained but so far no reply.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. And, make sure you do not pay the $85 to anyone. Period.
